Having graduated from The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2016, James ‘Jimmy’ Steele has gone on to play in many bands and settings. He is most notably an original member of the TikTok viral sensation The Vintage Explosion, which has sold out shows across the UK and Ireland and has performed on several live national broadcasts.
Known for his revival of the classic 1950s rock ‘n’ roll tenor tone inspired by the likes of Sam Butera and Clarence Clemons, Jimmy is also a keen jazz musician and a member of the Scottish jazz band C.A.L.I.E, among others.
Jimmy is a passionate teacher offering lessons at The Saxophone Shop in Glasgow. Jimmy wrote the book ‘The Basics of Improvising for Saxophone’ in 2022 aimed at getting beginners improvising on the saxophone, and he recently completed his second book ‘Music Technology for Saxophonists’, both available to purchase on the store.
Jimmy Steele proudly endorses 10mfan mouthpieces and D’Addario Woodwinds reeds.
